Having joined Doja Cat to open her headline performances on both weekends of this year’s Coachella Festival (14 & 21 April 2024), South African vocal group The Joy have received rave reviews globally, with Billboard describing their guest appearance as Top 3 best moments of Doja Cat’s headline set adding “But the guest appearance that went on for awhile and also made Doja look the happiest was the aptly named The Joy, a five man a cappella group from South Africa.”
Hand-selected by Doja Cat as a guest, The Joy provided lead vocals alongside the American rapper on two of her tracks; recent single, “Acknowledge Me” and “Shutcho” which was reimagined to incorporate lyrics in Zulu.
The Joy are set to arrive back in South Africa this Thursday, where they are set to embark on a media tour as they kickstart the road to the release of their self-titled debut album out June 21.
